Britt Design Group was started about 20 years ago by Laura Britt, an industry leader in health and wellness design for the workplace and home. Our team creates both functional and transformative interior spaces for the commercial, residential and institutional industries. With just under 20 employees—and growing—we desperately needed a way to measure both productivity and project forecasting. As such, I was tasked with finding a suitable project management tool.
We were looking for a platform that allowed us to focus more on how we manage projects in terms of our designers' time, and how we forecast what resources we're going to need to complete projects on time and on budget.
The firm had only ever used one program which primarily served as an accounting tool specific to the furnishing side of our business. We were looking for a platform that allowed us to focus more on how we manage projects in terms of our designers' time, and how we forecast what resources we're going to need to complete projects on time and on budget.
Ultimately, a key factor in deciding which software we wanted to go with was the visual element––designers are very visually oriented, so we needed to find a software that excelled visually while still providing accurate and organized measurements.
This brings us to our introduction to Monograph. We started using the software full-time at the beginning of 2020. What really sold us was that Monograph not only had the exact visual element that was so important to the team, but it also allowed them to view the firm’s projects all in one interface. One of the other most well-received elements of the software is that it tells us how we’re doing relative to the scope and timeline of the project—which has been particularly critical during the ongoing pandemic. Another appealing element is the ability to see a visual snapshot of our current business and the outlook, which is essential for business planning and strategy, particularly in these uncertain times.
t’s been a real plus to manage projects with the help of Monograph, especially our more recent ones that were added to the software from the beginning.
To date, we currently have more than 40 projects in Monograph’s software. We have a range of projects, including some that require a quick turnaround and others that have a longer timeline of three to five years. It’s been a real plus to manage projects with the help of Monograph, especially our more recent ones that were added to the software from the beginning. It has been especially useful to manage the budgeting and track progress against benchmarks.
I’ve also been incredibly impressed with Monograph from a communication standpoint—they are remarkably receptive to ideas and suggestions and are quick to respond and implement some of these through the creation of new features and software upgrades.
